Accountable Care Organization

What is an Accountable Care Organization?

An accountable care organization (ACO) is a group of physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare providers working together to provide high-quality, coordinated patient care. ACOs are paid based on the quality of care they provide, not just the amount of services they deliver. This means ACOs are incentivized to keep their patients healthy and out of the hospital.
